Metaphysics of emergence

Emergent levels show novelty, autonomy and partial dependence on their base, with downward causation. The consistent problems of existence — finitude, irreversibility, unpredictability — are answered by contingent, emergent responses.

What it does in the chain

Founds the micro→macro step without reductionism or methodological individualism: the social is an emergent, inscribed level. The consistent problems are the circumstance; identity and belonging are inscribed answers to them.
